Many of us work full-time jobs, some of us are students, and some of us are retired. We have families at home, and we also have our family right here in this firehouse. When someone calls 911, we all come down to the station, get in our gear, and rush to the scene to provide aid and relief to those in need. Joining means helping others, strengthening the community, making a difference, and being a part of something truly special. We need all the help we can get, and that starts with you! Our volunteers range from working parents with families to high school students pursuing extracurriculars. Wherever you're coming from, there's a place for you in our firehouse. Reach out to us and start coming down to the firehouse at 7 PM on Monday nights. If you decide you want to join, we'll guide you through the process with all costs paid by the department. Our members are people of all ages, from teenagers to senior citizens. We need everyone's help and support. All we ask for is an eager attitude and dedication. "Becoming an EMT has been one of the most humbling and rewarding things I’ve ever done.  In my life, I’ve been fortunate enough to only have needed to call 911 a few times-but each time, I remember the sense of relief when the ambulance arrived.  I hope to help my friends and neighbors when they need it, providing care and comfort while alleviating a little bit of fear.  There’s something special about an all volunteer squad too-knowing you are with people willing to give up their own time to help others.  Come join us!" "I joined the Bernardsville Fire Company because I love this town and wanted to be involved in preserving it. Aside from training and responding to calls for service I truly enjoy helping with local and holiday events like the Santa Run and school fire prevention visits. The camaraderie within the department has created a second family for my wife and kids. I first volunteered at a fire house when I turned 16 and consider it a lifelong privilege to be able to continue doing so. Experienced members teach and mentor you through the process of joining and becoming a first responder. Working with them, I have learned a lot of valuable, life-saving skills that I use each and every day. I'm in college, and when I'm not in class or studying for school, I love helping out at events and responding to calls. Mark was a dedicated member for over 15 years, joining the department in 2008 and serving in various roles, including: In addition to these roles, Mark served on numerous committees, including as Head Trustee and Chair of Fundraising. He also brought joy to the community each year as Santa Claus during our annual Santa Run. His unwavering commitment to the department and deep pride in representing his hometown will leave a lasting legacy. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his wife, Laura, and his children, Farrell, Connor, Anna, and Mark, as well as his family and friends. May he rest in eternal peace.
