Bernardsville Fire Company No. 1
10/30/06 - The Fire Co. recently received a letter from a five-year-old Basking Ridge resident. His uncle is a career firefighter in Summit, and he is extremely interested in firefighting. His mother read him an article about the fire company needing a new fire truck, and he told his parents that he wanted to write us a letter and send us the money he had saved. He wouldn't drop the idea for a couple of weeks, so his mother agreed to help him write a letter to us and address an envelope -- a task that took three days. Here's what it said:

"Dear Firefighters, This money is for a new fire truck. My mom told me that your old truck has a leak in it. I hope your new truck is shiny and just the way you want it. Your friend, ..." - Enclosed was $3.25.

We had the opportunity to meet with him and provide a tour of the firehouse, a ride in the truck and a live demonstration. Our sincere thanks to both he and the Hudkins family for their support!
10/25/06 - Members responded to an early morning call for mutual aid to a confirmed structure fire on Longview Road in Bedminster. We responded with one engine, tanker and ambulance. On scene, we provided rehab at the fireground and assisted with tanker operations. For local news coverage, click here

10/2/06 - On Monday evening, we held a full company drill. During this time, we had the opportunity to simulate three different scenarios. During the drill we were advised that there was a firefighter down and reports of residents trapped inside. A primary search located the downed firefighter and he was pulled to safety. Other events involved pulling hose line off of 22-103, practice with the Thermal Imaging Camera, as well as interior search operations.
